A Legacy for Future Generations
Protect the treasure God has blessed you with by ensuring opportunity for future generations. Studies show over one-half of the population do not have a will, that is leaving instructions for their estate. A will or bequest is a wonderful tool to provide future funds for the ministry at Berachah; it is a way of showing our support for the ministry that takes place in young lives. A lack of any estate planning or having a will can result in the government determining what happens to an individual's lifetime estate.
Choosing the Best Ways to Give
You can leave a fixed amount by simply including it in your Will, or you can use a percentage of your estate. Additional gifts can be in the form of investments and property. Creating a trust can also protect your assets from a probate process and ensure an orderly estate plan to your heirs. Charitable Remainder Trusts can accomplish the same income goal during life, but then provides for the remaining assets to be given to a qualified 501c(3) organization. Other planned giving tool are gift annuities; investing a lump sum that will provide income for life, a Charitable Gift Annuity also provides income, but when the annuitant dies, the balance goes to the named charity. Memorial gifts and endowments are also ways to provide for ministry from current assets. Most all of these planned giving tools offer tax deductions and advantages to individuals.
Deciding What is Best for You
The Berachah Foundation has a working partnership with a large firm that specializes in planned giving and estate planning for non profits and Christian organizations. They have a staff of financial planners, attorneys and accountants to insure that your specific needs and requests are met. Steve Altick, the former CEO of Camp Berachah Ministries, will be working with the new foundation to introduce donors to the development and financial needs of the ministry, and to the tools available to invest in changing lives at camp.
